Types of gold jewelry
We use mainly 14k gold filled for our gold jewelry. Some huggie earrings are made with gold vermeil.
Gold vermeil is composed of a layer of gold over a sterling silver base. It is made for everyday wear, and will last if kept out of moisture.
Sterling Silver
Composed of roughly 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper or brass.
- Durable
- Hypoallergenic
- Waterproof
Sterling silver naturally reacts to sulfates in the air, and therefore can turn to a darker silver colour, which can easily be cleaned. Sterling silver will not rust and turn your skin green.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELRY
- Avoid having your jewelry coming in contact with hygiene products such as lotions, soaps, etc.
- Make sure to avoid harsh chemicals such as chlorine found in pools. These chemicals can damage the metals and gemstones.
- Avoid wearing jewelry to bed and other activities that could pull, tug, and/or scratch the jewelry.
- If your jewelry needs to be cleaned, lightly scrub with water and a gentle soap.
Please note that while our jewelry can be waterproof, taking off your jewelry before going in the shower can help keep the jewelry looking shiny and new. As always, make sure to handle your jewelry with love and care.
Gemstone care
- Most of the gemstones we use are fine with water, however turquoise should not come in contact with any liquids.
- Freshwater pearls may loose some of their shine if they come in contact with moisture.
- Gemstones can build up a dark colour around the hole. This is basically just skin cells that have collected debris and dirt. To remove, gently clean the gemstone with water.
